It's almost October - feels like we're on a very slippery slope towards the holiday season!

Beautiful Packaging from the Library of Flowers

I came across this packaging the other day and was enthralled, it's so beautiful! Library of Flowers is an American small batch perfumery by Margot Elena. They make use of lots of illustration, mostly in a hand drawn and painted style with beautiful colourful florals. I love their magical story...

The clever people at Ikea came up with this fantastic promo video for their 2015 catalogue. I love how it's a sly little dig at Apple and other digital devices, but also being a lover of physical books I love how it emphasis the qualities of a real book, even if it is parodied :)

Vintage Treasures in Durban by Vintage Quirkyness

I haven't done a post like this in a while, and I've missed it! There was a time when I'd do a lettering doodle for almost all my created posts (here are a few of those 01  02  03  04  05  06). I'd like to make more time for that again.

Anyway, today I'm sharing an awesome little Durban vintage shop that's been around for about a year now called Vintage Quirkyness. It's nestled inside one of my favourite local coffee spots, Churchill House, just off Windermere Road (now Lillian Ngoyi Road), on Churchill Road. It's run by Ann Rose, who has been collecting these pieces over many years. She's previously worked in the retail industry for a large local company styling window displays, and this shows in the way she's organised the store. I love the little areas of interest at different height levels, giving you so much to get lost in. That's why I ended up getting so many pics, despite it being a pretty small space! 

She's got some beautiful clothing, jewellery, handbags and other bits and pieces, and they're having a sale this week from Thursday the 11th to Saturday the 13th. Be sure to check it out!

Suzelle DIY

I had a post planned for today, but then Ché from IndieBerries shared this amazing video on Twitter and I was hooked - so much so that I need to share it with you all right now.
Suzelle DIY is "A Bitesize Do-It-Yourself Webseries" that shares some pretty useful tips, but Suzelle makes it so much more than that. She's a posh Afrikaans lady, tackling all sorts of DIY projects from cooking to drilling and more, all while perfectly dressed up. She's great. Just watch...

I am so hugely in awe of the work of Romanian illustrator, Aitch. Her work has such a mystical, magical quality to it, and her inspiration from her travels, folklore and legends, naturalistic illustration and naive art come through beautifully.
