Beautiful Instagrammed typographic compositions

I'm crazy about these typographic compositions by pomverte, aka Stéphanie, on Instagram. They're all so beautiful and well-composed. All her other images are great too, I find her whole feed so inspiring...

iwantmycoffee

I finally made my way out to iwantmycoffee in Umhlanga, a newish coffee shop created by Just Jinjer lead singer Ard Matthews and Deborah Good. It's tucked away in a quiet little spot behind Chris Saunders park next to Gateway. It's got a pretty cool vibe going, very relaxed and calm, perfect for a midday break if you work in the area. I was glad to see the familiar friendly face of Sam behind the counter, previously from VidaeCaffe on Florida Road.

I tried their orange flavoured cappuccino, but was a bit disappointed to find it rather milky and without much noticeable orange taste at all. Their wifi is free, but limited. Ard also runs his radio station, iwantmyradio, from here. All round a great place to chill and worth a visit.

Throw & Grow Confetti by Niko Niko

Throw and grow confetti is such an awesome idea! It's created by Sofie Los & Saskia Clarijs, a.k.a. Niko Niko which means 'say cheese' in Japanese - “We work on products and concepts that automatically makes you say 'cheese'.”

Throw and Grow Confetti is handmade, biodegradable confetti which contains wild flower seeds! (Lots of exclamations, I just love their whole concept!). So it's great for any party or celebration or, as they say, “celebrate for a reason or no reason”, because you end up planting flowers and then you have a beautiful reminder of that event.

“This flower shaped confetti contains flower seeds that grow into wildflowers. It is hand made and biodegradable so it leaves no waste. Better yet, a few months later a new party starts: a garden or balcony full of beautiful and colorful wildflowers. An original and sustainable gift for yourself or someone you think is very special.”

“We believe life is about celebrating. Building a timeline of great moments with the people you love. Not just the big moments, but especially the small ones that surprise and make your heart skip a beat.”

Fantastic, isn't it? They have packs available for weddings, parties and gifts. Yay for people having genius ideas and making them happen! Take a look at their site.

Saltwater Girl Magazine - The DIY Issue

I was lucky enough to get to work on local teen magazine, Saltwater Girl, again recently, and in particular the DIY (April/May) issue, which was really fun. Here's some of what I did...

I also worked on the layout and design for the Day Dreamer fashion spread, as well as other bits and pieces.

I really love magazine design and would love to do more. Having worked for SWG for quite a while in the past, it's really got a special in my heart.

Sorry for the slowness of posts this week! Will get back on track soon. In the meantime, I hope June is treating you well so far and that you're making use of your free calendar! :)
